New Apostate: Tempest in a Teacup
by Tempest in a Teacup infirst post on here.
i've been lurking for 3-4 years and i mean i've been a mega lurker, doing marathon reading sessions for months or weeks.. sometimes i proceed by researching specific topics, or posters; other times just reading current discussions.
i'm particularly fond of "old" post, i.e 10-12-15 years ago.. i have laughed, smiled, got mad, cried etc, just reading some threads here.. as you can see i suffer from some kind of "accute lurkitis".

You have the answer, run!
No, seriously we cant tell you what to do or have all the facts, but you really have yourself in a corner, chances are she still believes it is the Truth (internal speak, they call it The Truth) and WILL return to it with gusto when she has a child to think about.
The cult is all about FOG (fear obligation guilt) the classic toolbox of all cults. She will have her buttons pushed accordingly. Unless she can educate herself about cult mind control and see it for herself then her life will always be controlled to some extent by it.

Why does she want you to marry her?
Why did she move out after living with you?
It may be because of family pressure and the shunning is working. If you get married then her family may re-engage with her and that could be a strong motivation.
You need a series of heart to heart conversations and she needs to be willing to honestly investigate her religion (cult) of birth (i'm guessing she was a born in).
If she is not or will not be willing to do that then walk away.
Edit to add: if she read this whole thread, what would be the result? It's possible the indoctrination is still so strong that she wont even read anything on an "apostate" site like this one.

Exciting new Brother seems ideally qualified for a JW
by jimtheman699 inso, jw's are being investigated for grilling innocent child abuse victims in their own courts, they punish the innocent and protect the guilty, they hide child abusers in their own ranks and protect pedophile elders.
next stop london bethel for this new brother then - ideally qualified.
the yorkshire ripper has enjoyed a specially-arranged baptism service in broadmoor after becoming a jehovah's witness.. peter sutcliffe, 68, who was jailed for murdering 13 women, was recently baptised in a pool in a private room at the high security hospital.

Excuses to miss the meeting that won't raise suspicion of a fade
by kairos inthe first step to fading is to begin missing the meetings.. "if" anyone misses you, a quality excuse must be at the ready.
this will produce empathy toward you as opposed to suspicion.. 1. car problems ( don't mention that you caused them ).
2. stuck on the phone resolving insurance, billing, etc issues.. 3. sick ( of the meetings ).

yes she will unless she doesnt believe in the cult herself and is just in for family reasons.
If her parents or other family are in the cult then you can expect extreme levels of interference in how your child is raised and indoctrinated even against your will.
It is a cult, expect them to behave accordingly. Having a child or even a relationship with an active JW is a recipe for heartache and stress.

I understand the individuals disdain for the cult and that once awake there's no real reason to play by their rules, but I think it is selfish to not show some consideration for others there who do take it seriously. Why not just stay home instead? you are going to quit anyway right?
Cappy, it's good you are honest about it and i do understand the jolt received once awakened. One of my brothers was an alcoholic (and still is i guess as he has to abstain) so i have seen what it does to people and those around them.

Not cool in my book turning up at meeting buzzing on booze or anything else, let alone giving a part in the meeting in that state. if you are that alcohol tolerant then you have built up to it over a period of time and likely have a drink problem. Not impressed.
